Why are peonies such a favorite for wedding bouquets arrangements? They are inspiring, no question at all. Their scent is amazing and the colors can be soft or vibrant depending on the variety you choose. The other redeeming feature is that mass of petals you typically see in peonies - they have a high petal count. Making them lush, full, and and essentially exquisite beyond description. So let's talk DIY for peony wedding flowers. Chances are, you have a neighbor, or a favorite aunt, that would let you raid their peony patch for some stems?! If yes, you can easily pull off some arrangements on your own using this glorious flower. Think about if you are after tight buds for boutonnieres, or something more open for table arrangements. Pick 2 days before the wedding, give them a clean cut, and place in clean water and somewhere cool (e.g. basement). One day before the wedding, make your arrangements, again keep in a cool location, and transport to the wedding and venue the day of. Recruit a reliable friend/relative to transport to keep the stress and pressure off yourself. And enjoy! Be sure to send them home with anyone and everyone at the end of the evening. They should get at least a couple more days from the beauties to grace their home.
