Either way, they are memorable, as you'll see in this Letchworth State Park, NY wedding. Looking for the perfect location for a destination wedding in Western NY State that has amazing scenic photos and plenty to entertain your guests? Look no further - NY is home to Letchworth State Park, known as "The Grand Canyon of the East", located among Perry, Mt. Morris, Castile, Portageville, and other small towns. Letchworth won the USA TODAY Readers' Choice Award for Best State Park in the United States in 2015.
Wedding ceremonies can be held at the Glen Iris Inn and various pavilions throughout the park - all beautiful. Then you can head to various sites for those once in a lifetime wedding photos - backdrops with waterfalls, gorges, fall foliage, railroad trestles, bridges - you pick, as they are limitless. These same options are available for your reception as well.
The park boasts many attractions, sure to entertain your wedding guests if they are in the area for an extended period of time. A few attractions include:
-
60 plus miles of hiking trails
-
Genesee River Gorge and Waterfalls
-
Swimming, Whitewater rafting, and Fishing
-
Bird conservation areas
-
The Humphrey Nature Center - which highlights the geology, wildlife, and ecology of the park
-
Horseback riding trails
There are many venues outside the park for your ceremony and reception as well. I know a few in the area, from first-hand experience, that I would recommend at least checking out:
-
Vasile's Catering/ Anastassia Events - Located in Portageville, near the park, this is a renovated Catholic Church, built in 1848. Imagine wowing your guests as they dine, surrounded by 32 stained glass windows and 20' ceilings.
-
Normandie Orchards - The home of a beautiful 90 year old dairy barn that brings the opportunity of Rustic Elegance to those who are "Country at Heart". It has been lovingly refurbished by the owners and has been the beautiful venue for many family weddings, deep in the heart of genuine farm country, the backdrop is beautiful. This facility accommodates weddings and receptions.
-
The Chalet at East Hill Creamery - this wedding venue features Amish post-and-beam construction in red oak, hemlock, and white pine and huge colonial windows. The lumber was actually harvested locally from the owner's land. This venue represents woodsy charm and modern sophistication, unmatched at any other venue I have seen in the area. Guests can enjoy a bit of Alpine cheese as well as Wyoming County cheese history at this one-of-a-kind venue. This facility also accommodates weddings and receptions.
